More than just beer!
About Sapporo
Located in the middle of Hokkaido, Japan’s most northern island, Sapporo is the largest city in the area and is known for its great food and easy access to some of the best skiing in Japan. If you prefer a colder climate and you want a nice balance between city life and countryside, Sapporo could be your perfect destination.
Access
The easiest way to get to Sapporo is a quick flight from Tokyo or Osaka and then a short train ride from Shin-Chitose airport on the JR line. If you want to make sure you get a seat to yourself, the reserved seats on the airport express train can be booked at the ticket office or on eki-net.com.
Where To Work
Sapporo is a decent sized city and has several coworking spaces as well as a huge amount of cafes. Here are a few of the ones we recommend:
- HOKKAIDO xStation01
This coworking space is right next to JR Sapporo Station and offers both drop-in and monthly plans. It’s slightly expensive, but there are lots of spaces to sit, free drinks and booths for meeting calls. There’s also a great seafood bowl restaurant right upstairs!
Accommodations
As Sapporo is a bigger city, you will find plenty of Airbnbs and short term stay options.
Things To Do
- Skiing
- Hot Springs (there’s even one in the airport!)
- Museums
- Day Trips

Difficulty Level: Easy
Honestly, it is a big city with good public transport, lots of people that speak English and easy access from Tokyo and Osaka by airplane. There are lots of options for coworking spaces, cafes, as well as accommodations for short to long-term stay.
